Ben has more than 20 years of business experience, including five years as a Chief Operating Officer. He helps owners get out from under the day to day: a clear strategy and a few priorities the whole team can follow, winning more of the right work, tightening sales and margins, and finding the money that quietly leaks out. Simple systems, reporting, and routines then keep the business running well without depending on the owner for everything, whatever the industry.

 As Chief Operating Officer of a New Zealand telecommunications business, Ben ran a $14 million operation across service delivery, finance, and daily running. He found the root causes of margin leaking away and put in the controls to stop it, adding around $700,000 a year to the bottom line, a 5 percent gain, without laying anyone off. He also grew partner sales into a steady income stream of more than $50,000 a month. He has a strong people management background and a track record of building effective teams and lifting the standard of leadership around the owner. He is at his best bringing people through change rather than imposing it, creating the accountability that makes improvements stick.

 Ben also knows business from the owner’s side of the table, having started, funded, and run businesses across fitness, tourism, technology, and property: a travel and leisure venture, an online community, and property investment and development, including managing his own building projects. He has lived the same pressures his clients face, from meeting payroll to managing cash flow, which keeps his advice practical rather than theoretical.

Trained as a Strategize Implementation Partner and in the Scaling Up methodology, Ben uses proven frameworks to help owners get clear on where they are heading and what is holding them back, and to strengthen the four things every growing business must get right: people, strategy, execution, and cash. He is strong on sales and operations, CRM systems, and tidying up everyday processes and workflows, so owners can see where time, effort, and money are lost and where money is made.

 Backed by the systems, structure, and experience of the wider Strategize team, Ben serves as a trusted business partner and strategist to clients seeking practical results. He started in technology and telecommunications, working up into senior operational leadership, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Applied Computer Technology.

  Ben works with owners across Auckland, Kaipara, and Whangarei. Away from work he is an engaged father who coaches his children’s football, snowboards through the winter, and takes the family camping. He is building an off grid eco farm in Mangawhai with a food forest and its own solar power system.
